Edward Enriquez
Growing up my mother said I spent many hours drawing. I do remember spending countless hours playing baseball all the way through high school. When I did start to paint in my mid-twenties, past drawing experience helped in developing my painting technique. (Of course, my mother was right.) I spent the following years teaching myself to paint and began to show my work in the Mission District of San Francisco.
Now decades later, two children later, four cats and a gecko later with a dream supportive partner, I continue to paint images primarily from my own life. Born in East Los Angeles, raised there and in the San Gabriel Valley my earliest memories are of great home cooked meals, running around the neighborhood and helping our neighbor with his chickens.
Having taken photographs since my first year in college, the images produced have been the source material for most of my work. Recent paintings include images of Oaxaca, Mexico; Barcelona and of growing up in East LA.
